Labour’s Catherine McKinnell today said it was a “shocking reality“ that over 2.3 million children fall into the food poverty category in the UK.
The MP for Newcastle upon Tyne North made the remarks when opening the debate on child food poverty in Westminster Hall, after a high-profile campaign by England footballer Marcus Rashford.

The Manchester Utd forward’s petition: ‘End child food poverty – no child should be going hungry’, received over 1.1 million signatures.
