Carla Lockhart is the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) MP for Upper Bann, having first been elected to Parliament in 2019 with a majority of 8,210 over Sinn Fein.
The constituency of Upper Bann is found in the centre of Northern Ireland on the southern shores of Lough Neagh. A majority protestant constituency albeit with a strong Catholic minority, it contains the towns of Lurgan and Portadown. It was previously represented in Parliament by the former leader of the Ulster Unionist Party, David Trimble.
Born in1985, Carla Lockhart obtained a business degree at the University of Ulster, before working for the Democratic Unionist Party. She was a Councillor on Craigavon Borough Council between 2007 and 2016.
Lockhart then represented Upper Bann in the Northern Ireland Assembly between 2016 and 2019.
She is married to Rodney, a quantity surveyor and farmer, and the couple have a young son.
According to the Register of Members Interests, Lockhart receives £2,500 a year, for farming and administrative duties in relation to the family farm which she part owns in Fermanagh.
Anti abortion, Lockhart is Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Pro Life. She is also Vice Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Groups on Digital Regulation.
