John McNally was first elected as the SNP MP for Falkirk in 2015, being reelected in 2019 with a majority of 14,948.
The constituency of Falkirk in central Scotland, contains the town of Falkirk as well as the settlements of Camelon, Larbert, and Polmont. Once dominated by steel, this is a former industrial seat on the southern banks of the River Forth. Previously a Labour stronghold, Falkirk was gained by the SNP in 2015. This has since become a safe SNP seat and in the 2019 General Election provided the SNP with its largest majority in Scotland of some 14,948 votes.
Mr McNally is standing down from Westminster at the next election.
Born in 1951, John McNally is a barber from Denny by trade, and he owns his own barbershop in Falkirk. He is Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Hairdressing, Barbering and Cosmetology.
Mr McNally is asthmatic and did not attend Westmisnter during the covid pandemic because he was shielding.
The Daily Record newspaper have previously suggested that Mr McNally is the laziest Scottish MP, based on an analysis of votes and spoken contributions at Westminster.
He was elected to Falkirk council between 2005 and 2015. He is married with two children.

He is Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Ethics and Sustainability in Fashion; Textiles and Fashion; Youth Affairs; the Channel Islands; Air Pollution; and the Bus and Coach Industry.
