Paul Girvan is the Democratic Unionist Party MP for South Antrim, having first been elected to Parliament in 2017, being reelected in 2019 with a majority of 2,689 over the Ulster Unionist Party.
The South Antrim constituency covers the towns of Antrim and Newtownabbey, and is a commuter seat to the East of Belfast. A long time marginal seat between the two Unionist parties in Northern Ireland, approximately two thirds of the residents are protestant.
Born in 1963, Paul Girvan worked as an electronics engineer and a Parliamentary researcher before being elected to Parliament.
Girvan was elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly as the MLA for South Antrim between 2010 and 2017. He also sat on Newtonabbey Borough Council between 1997 and 2013.
He is a member of the All Party Parliamentary Groups on Healthy Homes and Buildings, Hydrogen, Adult Social Care, and Eggs, Pigs and Poultry.
