The constituency of Romford is located on the outer north eastern edges of Greater London and contains the communities of Romford, Gidea Park, and Collier Row in the London Borough of Havering. Romford is well known for it snooker clubs where a number of leading players such as Steve Davis honed their trade.

Although Romford is a traditional Conservative seat, where many of the population participated in the Thatcher government’s Right to Buy Scheme, the seat was gained by Labour in the 1997 general election. In 2019, the Conservative MP won here comfortably though with close to 65% of the vote. In contrast to many other areas of London, a massive 69% of voters backed Brexit here in the 2016 EU Referendum.

The Romford MP consistently opposed Theresa May‘s Brexit withdrawal agreement.

Rosindell is now one of just a few MPs who supports the return of the death penalty.

He backed Boris Johnson in the 2019 Conservative Party leadership election.

He remained supportive of the prime minister in 2022, stating on Sky News in relation to partygate, that people should move on from discussing garden parties and cake, arguing, “Are we going to drag another prime minister out of office over something like that?”. He then added, “Lots of people break the law in small ways, sometimes unintentionally … He’s not robbed a bank – this is getting out of control.”

Having previously stood for the Glasgow Provan seat in 1992 accompanied by his pit bull dog, who was dressed in a union jack outfit, Rosindell sees himself as a staunch patriot. He is interested in flags and heraldry.

Tory MP Andrew Rosindell has previously campaigned for the BBC to play the national anthem at the end of every day. In early 2022, rival broadcaster GB News announced plans to kick off its daily programmes with the anthem.
