RCVS Academy launches new wildlife and strays support courses
The RCVS Academy, a free digital learning platform for the veterinary professions, has launched two new, scenario-based courses which aim to support veterinary professionals handling wildlife and stray cases that are presented to them.
Developed with the RCVS Standards and Advice team, the courses use practical examples, based on real-life experiences. Working through the scenarios, the courses help the veterinary team to understand how to apply the RCVS supporting guidance and ensure the best outcomes for wildlife and stray patients.
Prabhjit Soomal, Standards and Advice officer at the RCVS said: “We receive several calls from veterinary professionals who are unsure how to best handle wildlife and stray patients; quite often they are not clear about the type of treatment they are obliged to provide and who is responsible for these patients. We hope that these two courses will help our veterinary teams make sense of the supporting guidance and be clear about their responsibilities with regard to wildlife and strays.”
Both courses are 15 minutes in duration and free to access via the RCVS Academy using your My Account login details, where other courses in areas such as microchipping, informed consent and owner disputes are also available.
Learning on the Academy is developed by the RCVS and offers the ability to plan and track your learning. QR codes and direct links make it simple to record and reflect on what you have learned in the RCVS 1CPD platform, which all registered members of the profession must now use in order to meet the RCVS CPD requirements.
