Shipbuilding loan scheme ‘small step in the right direction’
Whilst we need far more than this, at least for once it is a small bit of good news, says GMB Union
GMB, the shipbuilder’s union, has described a new Government shipbuilding loan scheme as a ‘small step in the right direction.
The Department for Business and Trade today [Wednesday] announced a plan to help buyers purchase UK-built ships. [1]
Andy Prendergast, GMB National Secretary, said:
“Our ship building communities have been waiting years for good news and whilst this is relatively small, it is a step in the right direction.
“We once led the world in the shipbuilding and there is no reason why our brilliant workforce cannot help us reclaim that crown.
“Whilst we need far more than this, at least for once it is a small bit of good news.”
