Rail ticket office closures are to squeeze out cash for shareholders by cutting services to the bone, says TUC
Commenting on plans announced today (Wednesday) for the mass closure of railway station ticket offices in England, TUC General Secretary Paul Nowak said:
“This is about squeezing out more cash for shareholders by cutting rail services to their bare bones.
“Safety will be worse, customer care will be worse, disabled passengers will find travel harder, and thousands of people could lose their jobs.
“We will work with passenger groups to oppose these plans and to rescue our railways from the privatisation and profiteering that is destroying them.”
