Greenpeace reaction to Ed Miliband green growth speech

In reaction to a speech by Shadow Net Zero Secretary, Ed Miliband, this morning, Greenpeace UK’s head of politics, Rebecca Newsom, said:

“The difference is like night and day. From the climate crisis to energy security and the economy, Labour is starting to get the scale of the challenge we face, while the government is still fumbling around in the dark, struggling to find the light switch.

“It was good to hear more detail from Ed Miliband on how this vision will be delivered, especially the plan for all regulators to have net zero targets. However, as we get closer to the next General Election, more clarity will be needed on how the £28 billion a year previously pledged for green capital investment will be allocated. But Labour is absolutely right to sound the alarm on the government’s failure to capitalise on the opportunities for creating a green economy, and to lay down the gauntlet for a bolder approach.”
