Centre for London response to publication of the Baroness Casey Review
Responding to the publication of Baroness Casey’s final report on the Metropolitan Police, Nick Bowes, Chief Executive of Centre for London said:
“Baroness Casey’s shocking report throws into question the very existence of the Met Police in its current form.
The new leadership is certainly saying all the right things, but there is enormous pressure to deliver change, and fast.
However, history has shown that major reform of the police rarely comes from within – it has to be imposed.
The Met Police are now drinking in last chance saloon. If public trust is to be restored, the Mayor and the Government must put party politics to one side and come up with a plan to overhaul London’s police.”
