Greenpeace response to Fuel Poverty Report figures

Commenting on the government’s new Fuel Poverty Report 2022Greenpeace UK’s climate campaigner, Mel Evans, said:

“The sheer scale of this crisis means that fuel poverty is fast becoming one of the biggest stains on this government’s time in office. Ministers made a legal commitment to reduce the number of fuel poor households by insulating people’s homes, but these grim figures today show that it is clearly failing.

“We’re threatening to take the government to court on behalf of the millions of struggling households forced to live in cold, damp, expensive to heat homes. [1]

“It’s time the government got serious about fixing fuel poverty in this country and coughed up the money and policy needed to keep us warm and reduce our bills. This would give us the warmer, greener, safer homes that people want and deserve, making them fit for the future.”
