TUC accuses government of “escalating” industrial tensions
Commenting on reports today (Wednesday) that the government is looking to ‘broaden the scope’ of planned anti-strike restrictions, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:
“Instead of scheming up new ways to attack the right to strike, the government should be sitting down for meaningful pay talks with unions.
“But ministers seem more interested in escalating disputes than resolving them.
“Workers don’t want to go on strike this winter. But they have pushed to breaking point by 12 years of pay cuts.
“Making it harder for workers to win better pay and conditions will tilt the balance of power even more in favour of bad bosses.
“Unions will oppose any new restrictions every step of the way.”
