Giving workers a voice will strengthen UK business and our economy, says TUC
Commenting on new research published today (Thursday) by the High Pay Centre, which shows that a majority of the public believes that trade unions and stronger rights for workers can help to stimulate economic development, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:
“It’s no surprise after scandals like P&O that people want workers’ voices to be heard and respected. A majority would like to have elected seats for workers on company boards. This approach has already proven successful in many other countries – the UK should adopt it too.
“It’s time to get back to rising wages and sustainable economic growth that everyone in the UK can share in. For this we need responsible firms that serve their workers and communities – not just their shareholders.”
