Centre for London response to Louise Casey’s interim report
Responding to Louise Casey’s interim report on the Metropolitan Police, Centre for London Chief Executive Nick Bowes said:
“Baroness Casey’s report into the Met Police makes shocking reading.
By shining a light into the darkest corners of the Met, she’s uncovered a string of inappropriate behaviours that will confirm what many Londoners felt – the police still have a huge problem disciplining frontline officers.
Many Londoners would understandably take the view that any officer found guilty of sexual misconduct or using appalling misogynistic, sexist, homophobic and racist language shouldn’t be in the force.
Since taking up the role of Commissioner, Sir Mark Rowley has demonstrated a refreshing honesty about the scale of the problem and has apologised to Londoners.
He knows that cracking this is critical to restoring trust in the Met. For the sake of the whole city, we need him to succeed”
