Loneliness Awareness Week
Care England, the largest and most diverse representative body for independent providers of adult social care, has welcomed this year’s Loneliness Awareness Week 2022.
Professor Martin Green OBE, Chief Executive of Care England, says:
“The care workforce plays an essential role in supporting care home residents through companionship and active engagement. Care England members have adopted activities to boost engagement to encourage service users to be valued and active members of their care communities, from interactive games to external music groups entertaining service users. Care homes are experimenting and adopting all manner of innovative ideas to combat loneliness in care homes. This week is important to recognise and celebrate all those involved in care and to take positive steps towards reducing loneliness.”
Loneliness Awareness Week 2022, hosted by the Marmalade Trust, runs from the 13th – 17th June 2022.
This year’s campaign will be highlighting the many and varied instances when we feel lonely to normalise the feeling – from childhood, into adulthood and beyond – with the campaign: ‘That Lonely Feeling.’
You can get involved by visiting the Marmalade Trust website.
Martin Green continues:
“It is essential that the stigma around loneliness is broken. Although Covid-19 restrictions are ending, Loneliness Awareness Week continues to play an important role through promoting positive social interactions. Personal connections are being restored and need to be fostered.”
