In response to Heathrow claiming that the plummeting demand and massive losses they have experienced have strenthened the case for a third runway[1], Dr Doug Parr, Chief Scientist for Greenpeace UK, said –
“A report published this week[2] showed that despite their woeful economic performance, Heathrow is still the market leader in empty flights. Now they are seeking to expand this side of their operations into an entire empty runway. They seem to regard passengers as an unnecessary distraction from their core business of destroying the climate.”
