Throughout 2022, Kew Gardens’ popular programme of wellbeing events and workshops returns. Following a hugely successful series of activities during 2021, this year’s programme of events has been expanded, allowing visitors to connect with Kew’s stunning UNESCO World Heritage site and offering much-needed opportunities to encounter and engage with the restorative power of nature.
Forest Bathing
Beginning in March and running on selected dates through to October, Forest Bathing sessions at Kew Gardens allow visitors to take a slow, guided sensory walk across the arboretum, and are organised in partnership with the Forest Bathing Institute. Inspired by the Japanese art of Shinrin-yoku and led by an expert guide, these sessions offer the opportunity to disconnect from the stresses of everyday life and explore new perspectives of Kew’s stunning tree collection as the seasons progress.
Yoga in the Temperate House
Early-morning yoga sessions in Kew’s iconic Temperate House allow visitors to beat the rush with these pre-opening classes. Running from March, each one-hour vinyasa flow session takes place surrounded by 10,000 rare and endangered plants, some of which are already extinct in the wild. Led by Kew’s own yoga instructor, Anil Yangi, these sessions offer a spectacular start to the day and can be followed by a relaxing walk around the gardens.
Summer Cycle
Kew’s popular Summer Cycle evenings return for 2022, allowing visitors a unique chance to explore the wonder of Kew Gardens on two wheels. From the vibrant Great Broad Walk Borders bursting into life with summer planting, to the stunning Rose Garden filled with fragrant blooms, these sessions are perfect for visitors of all ages to soak up Kew Gardens throughout the summer months. With plenty of picturesque picnicking spots, Kew’s Summer Cycle events offer the perfect opportunity to soak up summer evenings with friends.
Short Courses
After launching in 2021, Kew’s seasonal short courses return for 2022. Allowing participants to enrich their spare time with a range of specialist workshops delivered by a host of trained experts, courses for 2022 include gin discovery and tasting and botanical beauty, with more workshops for the year ahead to be confirmed shortly.
