Commissioner’s resignation from the Met: “Fundamental reforms are needed to restore public trust”

Responding to Commissioner Cressida Dick’s resignation from the Metropolitan Police Service, Nick Bowes, Chief Executive at Centre for London said:
“After a series of chronic institutional failings and appalling behaviours by serving officers that have shocked the city, Londoner’s confidence in the police has been severely shaken.
“The resignation of the Metropolitan Police Commissioner is therefore not a total surprise, especially given the mood emanating from City Hall these past few days.
“What’s not clear is whether change at the top will be enough or whether more fundamental reforms are needed to restore public trust.”
