Young Shots Journalists project open for new intake
BASC’s Young Shots Journalists project is now taking applications for 2022.
The project seeks out young individuals with an interest in journalism, who are willing to step forward and become shooting ambassadors.
Successful candidates will spend the year learning about the different forms of journalism. They will be given first-hand experience and lessons from BASC experts and have their work featured on the BASC website, in BASC’s Shooting & Conservation magazine and weekly newsletter.
In its fourth year, the project provides valuable experiences to those interested in a future in journalism. In return, we ask participants to keep us and our members up to date with their pursuits, creating content for other young shots.
BASC communications officer Marta Jacyna said: “I am confident that in 2022 we will be able to offer young journalists many valuable experiences and take the project to new heights.
“We are delighted to be able to give the next generation of shooters and conservationists an opportunity to voice their opinions and share their passion with a wider audience. BASC values the next generation of shooters, and we look forward to supporting new, fresh minds bursting with ideas as our YSJ 2022.”
Current Young Shots Journalist Louis Sykes said: “I have really enjoyed being a Young Shots Journalist and having a platform to share my love of fieldsports with people around the country. It has also helped me in training to be a journalist by giving me real experience in writing stories for an engaged audience.”
Applications will close on Monday 6 September 2021.
