Prestigious CITP status now available through the IET

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) is pleased to announce that it is now offering Chartered IT Professional (CITP) status for experienced IT specialists.

IET members can achieve CITP status through a partnership with BCS – the Chartered Institute for IT.  CITP is aimed at those wanting to demonstrate competency in IT.

Nigel Fine, IET Chief Executive said: “This qualification is testament of the IET’s on-going commitment to advancing and promoting IT professionalism. Through this partnership, we are delighted to be able to offer experienced specialists this highly regarded status of IT excellence.

“This is a valuable opportunity for many of our members and demonstrates that the IET is committed to providing a professional home for life for those in the IT community. We are delighted that IET members are now able to benefit from CITP status.”

Aimed at experienced IT professionals, the CITP Certificate of Current Competence (CoCC) is proof of an individual’s in-depth knowledge within their chosen field. With revalidation every five years, CITP is of real value and relevance to employers and provides a recognised benchmark across the IT profession.

In January 2013, a licence agreement was signed enabling the IET to award CITP status to its members. The new service has gone live today.
