IET: Sparks fly as new website launched for electrical workers
The Institution of Engineering and Technology’s (IET’s) web presence has had a boost, with the launch of a specialist site to cater for the needs of electrical practitioners such as electricians, designers or maintenance engineers.
The website states that the IET is ‘Setting the Standards for Electrical Installation’ and it is hoped it will become a focal point for all in industry who rely on the institution for essential professional standards such as the Wiring Regulations (BS 7671:2008) and associated electrical publications.
Senior IET Engineer, Paul Bicheno said: “The IET has recognised that the various industry standard publications and services it provides for electrical practitioners needed to be more prominent and easier to use. Because of this a dedicated website has been developed bringing together the relevant IET content. We look forward to developing the website further to cater for the evolving needs of the industry”.
The website includes content relating to the Wiring Regulations, guidance notes, electrician’s guides, the free ‘Wiring Matters’ magazine, electrical short courses and the new digital Wiring Regulations. Additional content on the website includes information about: membership, professional registration and how electrical practitioners and members of the public can obtain technical advice.
Another key feature on the website, whose URL is: www.theiet.org is a specific link to the IET’s Wiring Regulations forum, to enable easier access to one of the industry’s leading discussion forums.
