IFAW: Animal welfare groups bring giant inflatable whale to Icelandic Embassy as new whaling season begins

What – Photocall with five leading animal welfare groups with an inflatable whale outside the Icelandic Embassy in London. A letter will be handed in protesting at Iceland’s resumption of commercial whaling. New polling figures showing overwhelming public opposition to whaling will be revealed.
Who – Campaign Whale, Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA), International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA), Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society (WDCS).
Why – This weekend whalers in Iceland begin training their harpoons on 100 minke whales and 150 endangered fin whales, despite the unacceptable cruelty involved and a poor market for the meat.
