Statement from Breast Cancer Care on death of Jane Tomlinson.

Commenting on news that Jane Tomlinson has passed away from secondary breast cancer Samia al Qadhi, Joint Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Care, said:

“Breast Cancer Care is very sad to hear this news, and our thoughts are with Jane’s family at this time.

“Jane was a truly unique person and her legacy will live on through the thousands of people she will have helped through her extraordinary fundraising efforts.

“She turned her own diagnosis around and showed tremendous strength and determination, seizing every opportunity. She was told she had a terminal condition yet dealt with it in the most courageous way. What she achieved was extraordinary.

“Jane played an invaluable role in raising awareness of secondary breast cancer, highlighting the issues that people can face and improving people’s understanding of the disease.

“Through our helpline we speak daily to women who are facing their own diagnosis of secondary breast cancer. I am sure Jane’s efforts will inspire them and give them the strength to realise that there are many things they can still achieve.”
