Statement from Breast Cancer Care on Nature journal research.

Commenting on research being published in the journal Nature examining the role of the Tip60 gene in breast cancer Antonia Dean, Clinical Nurse Specialist at Breast Cancer Care said:
“We are still a long way from fully understanding the complex role that genetics plays in the development of breast cancer, and how this interacts with or is mediated by other factors.

“Breast Cancer Care welcomes any research that furthers our knowledge in this area and could contribute towards women receiving more targeted, individualized treatment that is based on the nature of their own breast cancer.

“However this is initial research. Further studies are needed to fully determine how these findings can be translated into practical benefits for people with breast cancer and the exact role Tip60 may have in the development of the disease.
