Breast Cancer Care: In response to the Health Committee report on workforce planning
In response to the Health Committee report ‘Workforce planning’ published today, Christine Fogg, Joint Chief Executive of Breast Cancer Care said:
“This report highlights an extremely worrying trend.
“Echoing its findings, patients and specialist Breast Care nurses are telling us that a lack of coordination between workforce and financial planning is severely impacting on them and therefore patients. Posts are either being cut or frozen in many parts of the UK.
“Many breast cancer patients say that Breast Care Nurses are the most important health professional they come into contact with in the NHS during their treatment.
“Long term workforce planning is essential in the NHS if we are to be confident that every patient will get the care they need. “
