Starmer concerned by UK’s Commonwealth influence
In a statement to the House of Commons, prime minister Boris Johnson updated MPs on his engagement at G7, Commonwealth and Nato summits.
Johnson told the House of his pleasure at the outcome of summits, including the joining of Finland and Sweden to Nato, but admitted “not every member of the Commonwelath sees Putin’s aggression as we do”.
Labour leader Keir Starmer described this particular issue as a “humiliating diplomatic failure”, otherwise welcoming the support that the UK and fellow nations are providing Ukraine in general.
