Jack Dromey was elected as the Labour MP for Birmingham Erdington in 2010, being reelected in 2019 with a majority of 3,601.
Dromey had been serving as a Shadow Home Affairs spokesperson.
He previously served as Shadow Paymaster General and as Shadow Pensions Minister between 2018 and 2021.
Dromey was born to Irish parents in Brent in 1948, and raised in Kilburn, London. He was educated at Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School in Holland Park.
He was married to the former Labour Deputy Leader, Harriett Harman MP. The couple have three children.
A long time trade union activist, Dromey led the Grunwick strike, and rose through the ranks of the old Transport and General Workers Union to be elected the Deputy General Secretary of the T&G and then Unite.
