Dandy Warhols attack Tories after ‘Primal Scream’ conference row

Any sense the Tories may have come out culturally unscathed from their conference fell apart today when they found themselves the subject of a rant from the Dandy Warhols.
Most observers concluded that home secretary Theresa May had left the stage to the sound of the song Rocks by Primal Scream, which covers subjects such as hard drugs and prostitution. That assumption led the band to issue a statement attacking the "sick" party.
It later transpired that the song was actually Bohemian Like You by US band the Dandy Warhols, but they appear to be just as displeased.
"I’ll tear their fuggin heads off," lead singer Courtney Taylor-Taylor wrote on the band's blog.
"Why don’t these a**holes have right-wing bands make them some right-wing music for their right-wing j***off politics? Oh, because right wing people aren’t creative, visionary or any fun to be around.
"Nor are they productive or even introspective about it. Wait, I live in Portland, Oregon….neither are left-wingers come to think of it."
The furious reaction to the use of the song is fairly standard, particularly for the Conservatives, who have long been a hate figure for many musicians.
