Cameron backs ban on anti-gay foster parents

David Cameron has come out in favour of a court ban on anti-gay Christians becoming foster parents.
During a visit to Derby, the prime minister said he approved of a high court ruling in the case of Pentecostal Christians Eunice and Owen Johns, who were told they could not become foster carers due to their views on homosexuality.
Lord Justice Munby and Mr Justice Beatson said Derby city council had been right to insist that homosexual rights “take precedence” over religious views.
“This matter was decided by a court in the appropriate way and I think we should rest with the judgment that was made,” Mr Cameron said.
“I think Christians should be tolerant and welcoming and broad-minded.”
The couple were said to be shocked and disappointed.
