No assault charges for Lib Dem Hancock

Liberal Democrat MP Mike Hancock will not face any further action over allegations that he sexually assaulted a constituent.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) will not be acting on the claims against the Portsmouth MP, arguing there was no evidence to disprove Mr Hancock’s account of events.
The Lib Dem MP was arrested in October on suspicion that he had acted “inappropriately” towards a female constituent, but subsequently bailed.
He had admitted seeing the constituent regularly, but insisted it was simply a matter of offering support.
Mr Hancock has repeatedly denied any accusations of wrongdoing. The file on the claims was passed to the CPS by Hampshire police earlier this month.
Prosecutors have now written to the complainant explaining their decision not to press charges.
It is not the first time the MP has been making headlines. He was previously embroiled in the row surrounding his Russian researcher over suspicions she was engaged in espionage.
