Young people gain government’s ear
A new initiative is handing young people the opportunity to lobby members of the Cabinet directly.
Social networking website Bebo’s Take Your Ideas To The Top campaign will find three winners who will present their suggestions on crime, careers and climate change to members of the Cabinet.
In a bid to make the competition more accessible to young people the government is insisting that contenders in the competition undergo a reality TV-style selection process.
From the initial selection stage six finalists will pitch their ideas to a celebrity panel including record-breaking mountaineer Jake Meyer and Olympics minister Tessa Jowell.
Three will go home empty-handed, crying into their adolescent pillows. Three will emerge as winners.
“This is a great initiative that gives young people the chance to make a real difference. I can’t wait to hear some of the ideas,” mountaineer Mr Meyer said.
