Sir Alan Sugar, the entrepreneur and television celebrity, entered the rumour mill over the impending reshuffle today when he was seen exiting Number 10.
As he drove off in his trademark Rolls Royce, a Financial Times journalist managed to ask him if he had been offered a Cabinet job, to which he replied: “It’s none of your business.”
The Amstrad founder is a close friend of Mr Brown, and the two already work closely together on the government’s Business Council.
Downing Street insisted the talks were routine.
“He is a member of the business council and the prime minister regularly meets business leaders in Downing Street,” a spokesman claimed.
