Met denies expenses investigation

The Metropolitan police have been forced to deny reports they are on the verge of starting an investigation into some of the MPs embroiled in the expenses scandal.
The Evening Standard is reporting that Scotland Yard was seeking a meeting with officials from the Commons fees office before deciding whether to launch a criminal investigation.
But the Met was quick to distance itself from that story this afternoon.
“We have had constructive meetings and full cooperation from the House of Lords and House of Commons officials about this,” it said.
“We have not taken any decisions about whether to launch an investigation at this stage.”
Detectives have received over 100 complaints on the issue, but are only understood to be interested in ten MPs.
