Senior public sector workers get limited pay rise
By politics.co.uk staff
A range of senior public sector workers will have their pay rises pegged at 1.5 per cent.
The workers include senior civil servants, top NHS managers and judges.
The rise is less than recommended, but Gordon Brown said the recession meant the findings of the Senior Salaries Review Body (SSRB) could not be implemented.
Military personnel were awarded the full recommended 2.8 per cent rise.
So were MPs, when their pay rise was announced yesterday. Mr Brown made sure ministerial pay was kept at its present level, however.
Both David Cameron and Nick Clegg agreed not to take up the pay rise.
