Respect MP in Tehran “before Israel bombs it”
Outspoken British MP George Galloway arrived in Tehran this week to participate in celebrations marking the first year of broadcasting for Iran’s international news channel, PressTV.
‘Gorgeous George’ presents two shows on the English language channel Comment and The Real Deal and each enjoy repeated re-broadcasts after first going out live from PressTV’s London studios.
Writing on his official website in an article titled, “I am off to Iran before Israel bombs it”, Mr Galloway told visitors, “by the time you are reading this I will be in Iran. I have never been there before and never met an Iranian leader – in fact, I don’t even like the present leadership.”
Mr Galloway added: “I am determined to do my bit for the anti-war effort.”
While he is in Tehran, Mr Galloway will meet with local politicians including newly elected speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Ali Larijani.
“Larijani is formerly Iran’s nuclear negotiator, and now speaker of the Iranian parliament. And I hope, the next president,” wrote Galloway.
Mr Galloway is expected to present at least one of his shows live from Tehran before returning to the UK on Thursday.
