Blair lifts holiday news blackout

The prime minister has lifted the news blackout on his holiday destination – it is now known that he is in Barbados with his wife Cherie

The premier’s director of communications, David Hill, wrote to news organisations in July asking them not to report the holiday location for security reasons.

The request was respected, but photographs of the family on holiday and some details of their stay have been reported.

Mr Blair went on holiday on August 6th and Downing Street refused to say when he will return.
The prime minister is still expected to spend a few days at Balmoral with the Queen as usual.
