Featherstone steps down
High profile Liberal Democrat London Assembly Member Lynne Featherstone is to quit – to spend more time as an MP.
Ms Featherstone was elected as MP for Hornsey and Wood Green in May. She has served on the London Assembly since its establishment in 2000 and has taken on key positions including chair of the transport committee and member of the Metropolitan Police Authority.
Ms Featherstone said: “It has been an honour and a privilege to work for Londoners and try to help make the capital a better place to live. It has often been the case that ideas that the Mayor has dismissed out of hand from the Liberal Democrats have miraculously become Livingstone’s new policy announcements six months later.”
Her replacement is expected to be announced later today.
