Iraqi officers train in Brecon
Forty Iraqi army officers have embarked on instructor training with the British Army’s Infantry Battle School at Brecon.
When they qualify as military instructors, the men will return to Iraq to train other officers in the Iraq Security Forces (ISF).
Armed Forces Minister Adam Ingram said: “The British Army has a legacy of being a leader in training forces from around the world. The training of Iraqi officers at the Army’s unique facilities in Brecon not only endorses that legacy, but underpins the UK’s commitment to Iraq by enabling the ISF to develop and take responsibility for security.”
The Iraqi students were chosen by their own commanders and the course is expected to last for three months.
