Employer relations key for union funds
Unions applying for funding from the Union Modernisation Fund will have to show how their proposals will build positive relations with employers.
This is one of the key details contained in the final proposals for the operation of the Government’s Union Modernisation fund published today by the DTI.
Between £5 – £10 million will be available for projects that help train union representatives in skills such as business and people management, and modernise union structures – including increasing use of new technology.
Employment Minister Gerry Sutcliffe, said: “Modern, efficient workplaces are a vital part of our thriving economy. It is essential that unions operate in a way that reflects modern working practices, and this money will help them achieve this aim.”
