Howard continues Blair attack
Conservative leader Michael Howard has again urged voters to make Tony Blair “account for his lies”.
The Tory leader, speaking on BBC television, has continued his attack on the record of the Prime Minister.
“He has told lies to win elections. On the one thing on which he has taken a stand in the eight years he has been Prime Minister, which is taking us to war, he didn’t even tell the truth on that,” stated Mr Howard.
“And this is the last chance the British people will have to send a message to Mr Blair, to say to him we are fed up with your broken promises, we are fed up with the way you lied to win elections, as over tax and we are fed up with the way you lied to us over the war.
“This is the British people’s last chance to send that message to Mr Blair, to hold him to account, to take a stand on these issues.”
Mr Howard also insisted he would continue to campaign on immigration and dismissed questions over his future should the Tories be defeated at the May polls.
