Prescott takes umbrage with journalist
John Prescott reportedly told a journalist to “b***er off” after angry exchanges with a journalist in Wales yesterday.
South Wales Argus reporter Mark Choueke asked the Deputy Prime Minister about the case of Welsh Assembly member Peter Law, who recently announced plans to leave Labour and stand as an independent in the Blaenau Gwent constituency.
Mr Choueke said Mr Prescott “blew his top” when pressed on how he and his Cabinet colleagues reacted to Mr Law’s decision.
According to the Argus, Mr Prescott told Mr Choueke: “Why are you asking me about this? I don’t care. It’s a Welsh situation. I’m a national politician.”
When pressed further, Mr Prescott replied: “Where do they get these amateurs from? You’re an amateur, mate. Go get on your bus, go home.”
Mr Choueke retorted: “Are you too big for the regional press now, John?”
To which Mr Prescott blasted: “B***er off. Get on your bus, you amateur.”
The Deputy Prime Minister made the headlines at the last election after he infamously punched a voter in Rhyl, Wales, after the man threw an egg at him.
