Labour extends lead over Conservatives
Labour has extended its lead over the Conservatives, according to a new opinion poll.
The NOP poll for the Independent newspaper puts Labour ahead by six percentage points on 38 per cent, compared to the Tories’ 32 per cent, down one point.
The Liberal Democrats were unchanged on 21 per cent.
NOP asked 956 people between April 8 and 10.
The margin of error was three percentage points.
Recent polls have put Labour and the Conservatives neck and neck, with just one percentage point between them.
Labour is defending a 167 majority in the Commons.
Should the poll reflect results at the election, politics.co.uk’s election predictor suggests that Labour’s majority could be cut to 118.
