New Arabic version of Foreign Office website
The Foreign Office has launched a new version of its website – entirely in Arabic.
Ministers believe that it is one of the first western countries to launch such a site.
Speaking at the launch, Foreign Office Minister Douglas Alexander, said: “I hope that this site, one of only a few western government sites of its kind, will enable many Arabic-speaking people the world over to have a better understanding of Britain and our diverse society.
“The site provides detailed information on a broad range of policy issues: MEPP, EU, human rights, Iraq, international security as well as information on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, who we are and what we are trying to achieve. You will also find practical guidance and links to sites with advice on visiting, studying or doing business in the UK.”
There is also information on the UK and links to diplomatic missions in the Middle East and North Africa.
