Most Brits think Hutton inquiry was a “whitewash.”
Half of Brits believe the Hutton inquiry into the suicide of Iraq weapons expert Dr David Kelly was a “whitewash,” according to a new poll.
The NOP survey of 521 people for the London Evening Standard on Wednesday found 49 per cent of respondents agreed with the question “do you agree or disagree that the report was a whitewash.”
Four out of 10 of those questioned said they disagreed, with 11 per cent saying they were unsure.
Seven out of 10 of interviewees said there ought to be an independent inquiry into the Government’s rationale for war against Iraq.
In the wake of the Dr Kelly scandal, a third of voters said they were less likely to vote Labour. Only three per cent of voters said they were more likely to vote for the Government.
Over half (56 per cent) said it was unfair the BBC received most of the blame, 35 per cent said it was “fair.”
Separately, according to a poll of 29,000 viewers of the BBC One’s Question Time, 82 per cent said Mr Dyke should not have resigned.
