Voters dissatisfied with Blair

The Prime Minister’s personal rating and the popularity of his Labour Government have both nosedived, according to a new Mori poll.

Labour hangs on to the lead but only by two per cent over the Tories. Labour lost seven points on last month.

Conversely, Mr Blair’s adversary Tory leader Michael Howard saw his satisfaction rating increase.

Mr Howard scored a satisfaction rating of plus eight per cent, seven points up on December.

Almost six in 10 Tory voters said they were satisfied with Mr Howard’s leadership. Twelve per cent expressed dissatisfaction.

In January, a third of voters (32 per cent) said they were satisfied with Mr Blair’s performance. But 59 per cent expressed dissatisfaction. Mr Blair’s overall rating now stands at minus 27 per cent, down on the better-than-expected minus 19 per cent rating in December.

The Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy has a rating of plus nineteen per cent, one point down on last month.
