England’s World Cup rugby squad set for honours
England’s World Cup rugby heroes have been rewarded for their “fantastic achievement” in the New Year Honours List.
Tony Blair nudged their names onto the list after the English team dramatically beat Australia in the final.
Coach Clive Woodward, who was already an OBE, is set for a knighthood, with captain Martin Johnson to receive a CBE.
National hero Jonny Wilkinson will get an OBE.
Most of the rest of the squad will receive MBEs.
Britain’s tennis champion, Tim Henman, is expected to receive an OBE.
