At least 17 dead in Iraq bomb blast
At least 17 people have been killed, with several others injured, in a roadside bomb blast in Baghdad, according to media reports.
The bomb exploded next to a fuel truck in the Bayya’a area of the capital, resulting in a fireball that engulfed a minibus.
The blast went off at 06:00 local time (03:00 GMT).
The blast comes after violence erupted in the so-called “Sunni Triangle” involving Saddam Hussein loyalists and US troops.
US troops are reported to have shot dead at least 18 Iraqis across the country in the wake of the dictator’s capture.
