Foreign Office lifts Turkey travel warning
The Foreign Office has lifted its warning against “non-essential” travel to major cities in Turkey.
A statement said the revised advice came in response to a change in the assessment of “the immediate threat.”
Travellers were warned last month against all but essential travel after the terrorist bomb attacks on the British consulate, the Turkish headquarters of the HSBC bank, and explosions at two synagogues.
More than 60 people died in the attacks, which have been blamed on Osama bin Laden’s al Qaeda terror network.
The Foreign Office said there remained a “high threat from terrorism” in Turkey.
