New poll finds Royals “damaged” by sex allegations
A new poll has found that a majority of Brits believe the allegations surrounding Prince Charles have irredeemably damaged the monarchy.
A YouGov poll for The Daily Telegraph found an increase in the number of Brits backing Charles’ son William as the next King of England.
Overall, fifty one per cent of respondents said they believed the rumours about a compromising “incident” between Prince Charles and one his staff had done the monarchy “a fair deal of damage.” Thirteen per cent said it had caused “a great deal” of damage.
A quarter said the affair has precipitated little damage, with six per cent claiming the innuendo and hearsay had caused no damage at all.
After the death of the Queen’s seventy-two per cent said the institution of the monarchy would continue to exist but only sixty-four per cent said it “should” to do. Twenty-seven per cent said the monarchy ought to be abolished.
YouGov questioned 1,871 adults online.
