Lincolnshire schoolboy dies after stabbing

A 14-year-old Lincolnshire schoolboy has died after being stabbed during a fight.

A boy of 15 has been arrested over the incident, which reportedly occurred at around 10:00 BST inside the school building, and taken to Skegness for questioning.

Police were called to the school at 10:12 BST after reports of an altercation between two students.

A police spokeswoman said pupils at the school will be interviewed under the vulnerable witness scheme and will be questioned by officers with their parents present.

She explained that a post mortem examination was being carried out on the 14-year-old at Grimsby Hospital and the incident was being treated, at present, as a suspicious death.

The police would confirm further details after the cause of death had been discovered, she added.

Lincolnshire Police have not identified the victim, as his next of kin have still to be informed.

Parents have been collecting their children from the secondary school, which will remain closed tomorrow.

The area inside the school where the stabbing took place has been preserved for forensic examination.
